As a fairly sophisticated internet user, it was obvious to me that Google was heavily manipulating the search results I was getting based on my particular user profile.  However, I never really comprehended the extent to which the search results were manipulated until this video laid it all out for me.  I’ve subsequently switched my default search engine to DuckDuckGo.

Here are instructions on how to make DuckDuckGo the default search for the Chrome browser.  If you use Google apps, like Gmail or Drive, you can sill get to them from Chrome by using the “Apps” tab on the far left of the menu bar.
