Apparently some enterprising pirates have figured out a way to host a repository of 47 million pirated research papers. The website Sci-Hub mirror has just come online, where one can find virtually any paper on any subject. I just tried looking up some obscure papers written by Hannes Alfven back in the 80s. To my surprise, they were there.
The search function for the site isn’t fully working, so you need to know the exact DOI number of the paper your looking for. However, DOIs are easily obtained from traditional abstract search databases like PubMed or the SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System.
This is going to be fun. Now everyone can see everything. Science bloggers are going to have a field day.
