The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe was written in 1997. By studying the past, they attempt to predict the future. And the future they predict is a perfect storm kind of crisis for the US and possibly the globe somewhere between 2006-2026...
Looks like it might be well worth reading.
James Quinn read it and wrote this mind blowing article in Oct, '09.
